Ardmore’s remaining group companies have had CVAs approved after the construction arm entered administration earlier this year, following remediation claims and Building Liability Orders linked to legacy residential developments. The company says the restructuring offers creditors a better outcome than liquidation, but it also marks Ardmore’s exit from operating as a main contractor.
The government has laid regulations to increase compensation for dependants of people who die from asbestos-related and other dust diseases, bringing their payments into line with awards available to affected workers. The changes also simplify the compensation calculation framework and are expected to take effect on 31 October 2026, subject to parliamentary approval.

Ainscough Crane Hire is pursuing a £1.3m claim against Keltbray Plant over alleged damage to a 750-tonne mobile crane during lifting work on a wind turbine in Hull. The dispute centres on responsibility for rigging, supervision and planning under the CPA Crane Hire Agreement, after the crane’s hoist rope allegedly failed and the machine was out of service for 147 days.
Bolton Council has launched an investigation after reports that a number of historic building control certificates may be missing from its system. The council says it is working with its audit committee and the Building Safety Regulator to address the issue and review absent documents.
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is facing an estimated £9.6m claim linked to alleged external wall defects at a student accommodation scheme in Bradford. The parent company, Balfour Beatty plc, is also subject to a separate building liability order application for the same amount.
Westminster City Council is considering legal action after identifying significant bathroom waterproofing defects at its Beachcroft House care home, with remediation costs estimated at up to £4.5m. The council says a waterproof membrane was not installed in shower areas, while the original contractor disputes liability and has not agreed to carry out the remaining remedial works.
Ardmore Construction Group Ltd has entered administration following a court ruling linked to a £14.9m liability to Crest Nicholson over cladding defects at a Portsmouth residential development. Administrators say unsecured creditors, including subcontractors, are unlikely to recover any funds, while further building liability order claims could expose the group to substantially more liabilities.
An insolvency investigation into collapsed cladding contractor M Price Group Ltd has led to a demand that its two directors repay more than £600,000. The claim relates to transactions made before the company’s collapse and has been raised by insolvency specialist Seneca IP.
