Purpose-build flats vulnerable to fire false alarms – data
Government data analysed by Drax Technology shows more than 56,000 false fire alarm callouts in purpose-built flats in England over the year to March 2026, a modest increase on the previous year. Cooking, steam and accidental activation were the main causes, but a significant number of incidents were linked to faulty, damaged, poorly maintained or incorrectly positioned alarms.
